For all of you that are wondering what to do Friday and Saturday nights, how about seeing some live music? First tonight at the elevens, Sitting Next to Brian will be playing a short set along with several other bands opening up for the novels cd release show. Should be fun, and we don't get to see Sitting Next to Brian nearly enough.
Then tomorrow, which is Saturday, head to the iron horse at 10 to see The Figments cd release show. Why? Well because they rock!
Now that sounds like a rockin' weekend to me.
Take a look at how sweet and precious these little dream catchers are by One Good Bumblebee. Aren't they the cutest? What a perfect gift for that little girl that you're still not sure what to get.....or even just for yourself!

I’m joining my friend, rosa with the opening of a new boutique/studio in downtown northampton called, Dandie in the Underworld. And we’re in search of local indie crafts/DIY folks to sell their goods in the shop.
Dandie in the Underworld is a small boutique hidden in an alley of downtown Northampton, MA selling crafty- type goods from local artists (western mass peeps). The boutique is entirely decorated with recycled goods, things we found and have given new life. We’re giving back to the community by refreshing the art scene, and we hope you want to be a part of it.
Art meets function here. Everything is unique, no two pieces are the same. But we’re not a gallery. We’re not looking for fine-art, it’s all about those funky/cutesy things you make. Anything from hand-knit scarves, bags, cards, wallets, jewelry, clothes, pins....whatever you do, we want. It doesn’t have to be traditional, and the less traditional the better. Nothing is too out there for us. This is the opportunity for all of you with that knack for creating stuff to have it showcased in our boutique and make some money while you’re at it.
If you’re as excited as we are and want some more info or have stuff you want to sell please let me know.
We need your goods soon so hurry!

There's a section of the Kate Spade website called, Behind the Curtain. It's kind of like a behind the scenes look at sources of inspiration for the different lines. I'm particularly drawn to the Desktop Profile and Things We Love links. I think this is really a great source for any kind of designer to draw inspiration from and to also give people in other fields an idea of a designer's process.
It shows a sketchbook, with different swatches of materials, different colors, sketches, photos, etc. And just mainly a layering of materials that relate to the project in some way and inspired it.
It also proves how much a designer is influenced by their surrounding environment. We are all constantly looking at things, studying them, making mental pictures of them, and either consciously or subconsciously bringing that to the table.

The Things We Love link is a good place to get started. Click on the different images, find what you like, what you hate, and see where that takes you.....

So I have a thing for Camper shoes. The first ever time I was in europe i somehow talked myself out from buying a pair. The second ever time i was in europe (about 3 weeks ago) i talked myself out from buying a pair. I would pass by the store in awe and dream about what pair i would choose. Every day I would share some passing thought with Brian about a. which pair i think suits me the best or b. what else i can do with that money.
Finally when we got back from our trip, I went online, and bought a pair of Campers, the b. thoughts faded away very fast (and i realized buying them with american dollars worked in my favor anyway). I finally got them two days ago, shipped all the way from Barcelona and love them. They are so darn cute, and they are probably the most comfortable shoes I own. It's like walking bare-foot but then looking down and admiring the cuteness. So now I'm trying to convince Brian he has to own a pair and trying to wait a bit until i buy my next pair.

One thing I haven't posted about really at all is fashion. Fashion is a huge inspiration for me, so I don't know why i have avoided the topic at all. But i'm starting now. So here we go.
There's a site called Hel-looks.com that posts pics of various people, various styles, and a little quote about their personal take on fashion. It's pretty great, and here are some ladies with some pretty great style going on.
My favorite is this masterpiece. All i can say is, perfection.

The details and crop of this jacket make the outfit.

And i love these shoes, so vintage and cute; without them i don't think i'd be as psyched.

The splash of red on the lips, bag and shoes make something pretty simple and classic more unique.

And I absolutely love the buttons and cut of this dress, and the tights are perfect.

This one seems slightly more staged, but i love this photo from a composition stand point. The outfit with the interior accessories all accent one another perfectly, it's almost like she should stay there forever.

My best friend, Stella, whom I've been friends with since we were 11 asked me to be her maid of honor last night. I am so honored and thrilled to be a part of her wedding, and had to share the great news!
The plans are for September 2008 in California. Yay! Stella has been the bestest friend anyone can ever ask for to me over the years, she is my rock and i love her dearly.
